JULIE STEVENS

Ongoing classes beginning in April

$300 per month (4 classes)

Saturdays from 11 p.m. - 2 p.m.

This is a professional musical theatre Master Class taught with live accompaniment over the course of four weeks in Hollywood. Each week, all performers will sing an audition/musical theatre performance piece of their choice and receive direction, guidance and feedback from Miss Stevens. This is a great opportunity to polish your audition/performance technique and develop a solid book of audition material. All performers will get song recommendations and practice CD's, learn how to communicate with an accompanist, discover what keys work best for them, improve audition skills, and really understand how to connect with the material.

Julie Stevens began performing at age nine when she was cast as one of the orphans in the in the hit Broadway musical, ANNIE. She played Pepper in the final cast when Annie closed on Broadway after 2,377 performances. Julie went on to earn a BFA from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and a Masters Degree in Education from Bank Street College. She became an on-set Studio Teacher for professional children working in commercials, studio films, and independent films. After moving to Los Angeles, she created a motivational deck of cards for performing artists, called ACTING OUTSIDE THE BOX, available online and in specialty stores nationwide.

In 2000, Julie launched a website, ANNIEORPHANS.COM, hoping to re-connect with her fellow cast members online. The website quickly became the premiere ANNIE site for fans worldwide and has succeeded in creating a “sisterhood” of young women who appeared in the show. Last year, Julie produced and directed a documentary film that would explore the hard knocks of overcoming early success. The film, LIFE AFTER TOMORROW, was an Official Selection at many prestigious film festivals and Julie was awarded Best Director and Best Documentary Awards at the Phoenix Film Festival. The film premiered on SHOWTIME on Christmas Eve and will soon be released on DVD. Julie is one of 20 filmmakers selected for a new international cultural exchange program, AFI: Project 20/20, funded by the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities, the U.S. Department of State, the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Institute of Museum and Library Services. She will be traveling the globe with her film in 2007.

Currently, Julie is developing other documentary projects and directing short films. As a performer, her singing voice can be heard as Barbie in the animated feature film, THE PRINCESS AND THE PAUPER, CARE BEARS LIVE, and MY LITTLE PONY LIVE. Julie continues to perform in film/TV and live on stage in theatre in Los Angeles while lending her voice to many demos of new musicals and animated projects. Julie is a member of the Director’s Guild, Screen Actor’s Guild, AFTRA, and Actor’s Equity Association.
